I think we are going on a vacation

I keep hearing Mom and Dad talking about something called packing!! Now I have no clue what that is but they are putting their clothes in a funny looking kennel.  I heard Mom call it a suitcase so I guess the clothes don't go in a kennel like I do..it doesn't look near as much fun as my kennel is.  They've added clothes to it and now it and a bunch of other things are sitting on the floor..I don't know why they are doing this..it's only Sunday Oct 13th so I guess we must not be going anywhere for a few days as my kennel, toys and bed are still in their normal place. 

Let me jump ahead now to Wednesday the 15th.  The alarm went off bright and early so today must be the day.  I think it is really early about 4:30 AM!! But I'm up cause I'm always up when the alarm goes off.  Have gone potty and have eaten my breakfast...OH.. OH.. OH. here comes my kennel on the table..Mom is putting some toys in the bed...OH WE MUST BE LEAVING!!!! Mom hurry put my kennel on the floor I want in NOW!!! PLEASE!!!! Okay Dad is going out the door with Mom's coffee cups and a bunch of other stuff.  AND NOW ME!! Here is my kennel ready for me to get in it..

WE are headed out the door to a place called Branson, MO.  I was told to go to sleep as it is a long drive..but I'm so excited I keep telling Mom I want out...please just let me out...now...please...out...out..out...Mom and Dad laugh and said that is what it sounds like I'm saying..well of course it is I want out of my kennel..gotta give them a kiss for not leaving me home. 

We stop a couple of times to go potty..and Mom and Dad eat lunch..and guess what Mom brings me out a little bit of meat and more important some ICE CREAM!!!!! All is well!! Time for a nap again..

We are finally there!!! I love our room it has wood floors like at home..so I don't smell all the other animals that have been here!! That is a good thing..I'm going to put a few pictures up of what I got to see at the motel we are staying at..

Mom said those are chickens on the fence!  The little one on the fence makes a funny noise..she said he's a rooster.

WE did some fun things while we were in Branson..I got to go into two stores with Mom and Dad.  One really wants people to bring their pets into the store.  Mom and Dad got me a new harness that is so much better then the old ones..I can walk in it so much better and is so much easier to get on and off..and the best thing Dad didn't have to adjust it to fit me!!  There is a big empty lot behind a church that Mom takes me to and let's me play.  I really like that except one time I started to run down this hill toward a street.  Mom came running after me..I didn't know she could do that..she told me HERBIE STOP so I did and looked back at her as if I was saying well come on hurry up this is fun let's do it again!! BUT instead she picked me up and put the leash back on me..

All good things have to come to an end..and we head home after 5 days..I was worried about Dad when he got out of the car it's dark outside and you never know what might happen but he was putting gas in the car so I got up on the dash and laid down so I could make sure nothing happened to him.

 I realized in my posts there are pictures of everyone but my Mom so we decided to take a "selfie" I wasn't going to make it an easy job for her..she didn't have her camera but her phone instead.I'd give her a kiss and turn my face real quick..She has got to remember to shut her mouth when taking a selfie..but since this is the first one guess I can forgive her..and the fact it's blurry..

The trip home is long but going to be so worth it as I get to see my brother. We left at 5:45AM and got home at 3;30 PM..I was so happy to see my brother..Mom put me in the back yard to go potty..brother could hear me barking and he was meowing so Mom finally let me go inside. I ran to find him on the porch..we hugged and licked each other..5 days is a long time.

Fall camping trip

I love to go camping especially when it's not been a long planned out trip.  Just a "do you want to go camping" type of thing.  That is what we did the 18th, 19th and came back in on the 20th of August.  We went out to "our" lake in Cambridge. We were surprised to see so many campers come in.  Mom said it was beginning to look like fall as  the frost we had a few weeks ago was beginning to make the leaves change color.  I just know I enjoyed all the space I had to run and the long walks Mom took me on.  I did really good and got to walk without my leash on. She said I did just like I was suppose to by staying right behind her.

We saw some wild turkeys while we were camping.  Mom took the camera outside so she could take some pictures.  She sat on a picnic table and the turkeys came real close to her.  I was warning her they were getting to close as I howled at her several times but she just kept taking pictures so I guess they weren't dangerous!  Here are a couple pictures of them.

On Thursday when we were out to the lake it was foggy most of the day but then about 5 PM it started to clear off.  After supper Mom and I took a walk to the swimming area she took some more pictures (of course) of how pretty the clouds were reflecting in the water and of a pelican swimming. 

The next day was very windy and hot but we still enjoyed the day by sitting outside and doing nothing..well I should say Mom and Dad did nothing, me, I ran and explored and learned how to mark my territory!! I understand that most boy dogs lift their leg to mark their spots but I don't know how to do that yet so I'd back over a pile of leaves and well you know what we do then..Mom would laugh and tell me I'd already marked that bunch several times already but it didn't matter to me I'd mark it AGAIN....and AGAIN...and AGAIN!!

After all that fresh air and playing outside I was tired!! So I took a nap a very long nap!!

The reason for the title is today I am 5 months old.  I've grown since Mom and Dad first brought me home.  I don't weigh much more but like every baby we all grow up.  Mom is trying to teach me tricks and of course I just look at her and go why???? BUT I do try especially if she has a treat!
Like all kids I get in trouble for chewing on things like shoes or doors or whatever happens to be close by.  Heck I even try to pull clothes out of the hamper. I love to pull underware and socks out through those little openings. Of course that always gets me a swat on the backside and a stern NO!! I'm learning Mom and Dad have lots of different tones in their voices!!

I'm also getting use to when Mom wants to take a picture of something she thinks is "cute" I stop doing it immediately.  The other day brother and I were all curled up taking a nap under this little rocking chair..and of course she thought she wanted a picture.  You can see I'm wide awake but brother is looking all grumpy.  I think he told me to just put my head back down and go to sleep and she'd go away faster.  But since I was awake I decided it was time for him to wake up too!!

The Best Dam Car Show

No I didn't cuss Mom old me that is what they call the car show in Trenton, Ne.  The reason behind that name is it is held at the Marina at the Trenton dam.  Mom took her little Superbeetle and Dad took his Camaro.  It was about an hours drive..but Mom put me in my little kennel and zipped me in.  I cried a couple of times as I really wanted to be out of the kennel but Mom explained to me I couldn't as she couldn't hold me and drive..so then I settled down and slept.  She also took an ice pack that goes in the top of the small cooler and put it under the sheepskin in my kennel..that kept me a nice place to sleep as it kept it cool.  I stayed there most of the day and evening! 
The best part of the car show I think is I got to see Uncle Tom and Aunt Chris.  I did my thing and gave Aunt Chris a kiss but then I got to go to Uncle Tom.  You can see how many kisses I gave to him in the next few pictures.  Mom also won a very neat door prize at least she said it was.  I won't get to enjoy it but she said they would.

Family vacation

When Mom told me we were going on a vacation I thought OH YEAH we'll be in the camper again!! I was so wrong on that thought.  I didn't realize we'd be in the car for 10 hours which turned into 12 hours due to something called construction.  BUT Mom said I did really well traveling.  We stopped a couple of times for potty stops and to eat lunch.  Mom had packed a picnic lunch for all of us so when we got hungry we just pulled over into a scenic overlook. It was really pretty as it looked over a small lake.  I don't remember the name of the lake but if you are ever headed for Price UT I'm sure you'll see it on the interstate.  Here is a picture Mom took of us on the road..

We had just started out on the trip at 5AM. Now who would start a vacation at that time of morning.  NOT me that is for sure so I just settled in for a llllllllllloooooooooooooooonnnnnnnnnnnnnnnngggggggggggg morning nap.  

While we were on vacation Dad did some shooting at something called a SASS Cowboy Action shoot.  I guess he shoots guns at targets.  Some of the guns are VERY loud and scared me but after I got use to the noise it was fine.  Of course I got to go along to the event and as usual I was the hit of the shoot..People would hold me and make over me so much I LOVED IT!!.  Here are a few pictures of where Dad was shooting.

  I don't remember if Mom has mentioned how much I love to watch ants and trail them on our sidewalk at home but I think they are so fun to watch and I admit I have sniffed a few and they are so tiny they go up my nose which causes a sneezing fit.  BUT Mom kept telling me not to do that to these ants as they were BIG.  As you can see I dropped a piece of my food and these guys were taking it away!!

We saw and did lots of neat things but I want to leave you with this last picture of me headed home..Yes I am one very tired puppy.  Can't wait to see brother cat and my sister cat!

Softball tournament

On July 11th I got to meet the rest of my family.  We traveled about 2 hours to another town called Hastings to watch my nieces (human of course) play softball in their state tournament.  Now I heard it was a good time but I don't know for sure as the complex would not let dogs inside so I had to stay in the camper and wait for everyone to come back. Once the games were done I was held ALOT everyone thought I was so cute and lovable!!  The middle of that week I realized I've been with Mom and Dad for a month!! My how time does fly.

Mom was able to capture a video of me barking inside my tent.  Well I guess it's really not mine but Snowball's but he lets me play in it.  I love to get in the tent and bark and scratch. I'm barking at the shadows I see on the inside and I'm scratching at the sides too.  Once in a while I'll jump up to try to get the top or I'll pull on the floor and move the tent across the floor..today I just wanted to bark. Happy 4th of July

Mom told me that I might get scared today but I didn't understand why. Then she told me it was the 4th of July and what that meant.  Okay so why would I be afraid of a firecracker or two.  I've heard them going off the last few days and they haven't bothered me.  BUT then I heard the big booms about dark and I was having none of that.  My little legs might be short but I can move fast when needed. 

She thought a picture of me with her center piece would be nice.  It took her a few times to get this picture as I was not going to sit still for another picture to be taken.  I have learned when the little silver box comes out and a thing on the front of it moves out to quit doing what ever "cute" thing I was doing.  That makes her put the little box I think she calls a camera away.  Today I think she was trying to get me to sit however.  I finally gave up and let her take the picture.  Of course brother was telling me run..NOW but she kept catching me.  In the next picture you can see where he's making his escape!!

I hope everyone had a safe and happy 4th of July and enjoyed the fireworks..ME I went to bed with Dad after they watched a few.  I stayed inside under my blanket for protection while they were outside. I really didn't need the protection I just like my blanket!!
